01Tourism · 2023
Chairing the G20 Tourism Ministers' Meeting
Context. India held the G20 Presidency from December 2022 to November 2023. The Tourism Working Group met four times through the year, concluding with its fourth meeting and the Ministers' Meeting in Goa.
Purpose. To agree a common framework among G20 members on the role of tourism in sustainable development, built around five priorities identified under India's Presidency.
Outcome. Members adopted the Goa Roadmap, welcomed as "a vehicle for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals", together with a declaration adopted unanimously. The Roadmap incorporates the "Travel for LiFE" concept, which draws on the Mission LiFE initiative on sustainable lifestyles.

02Mines · 2025
₹16,300 crorecrore of Government expenditure approved for the National Critical Mineral Mission, with a further ₹18,000 crore of investment expected from public sector undertakings.

National Critical Mineral Mission
Context. Critical minerals — among them lithium, cobalt, nickel and rare earth elements — are inputs to batteries, solar panels, semiconductors and defence equipment, and India imports much of its requirement.
Purpose. The Mission covers the full value chain: exploration within India and in its offshore areas, mining, beneficiation, processing and recovery from end-of-life products, alongside a faster regulatory approval process and incentives for exploration.
Documented role. As Minister of Mines, Kishan Reddy announced the Mission's launch and has described it as key to India's clean-technology resilience and to reducing import dependence. He has also said the government supports private companies acquiring critical mineral assets overseas.

04Oversight
Review and oversight
Much of a minister's work happens in review meetings with the ministry's attached offices and public sector undertakings. In May 2026, for example, he chaired a review in Bengaluru of the Geological Survey of India, the Indian Bureau of Mines and other bodies under the Ministry of Mines.
In January 2026 he reviewed coal-sector reforms at a Chintan Shivir of the Ministry of Coal in Gurugram.
Opening facilities
Inaugurations — of offices, laboratories and public facilities — are a routine part of ministerial and constituency work, marking the point at which a project passes into public use.
